Youth Mental Health and Well-Being During COVID-19

Take a Hike is committed to the safety and well-being of our youth, and continuing clinical care throughout the evolving COVID-19 situation. Therefore, while schools are closed our clinical counsellors will be providing mental health support via phone and online to all our youth during spring break, and beyond.

Clinical counsellors will be reaching out to all youth and their families this week to offer support during this time, and as the school vacation period comes to an end, counselling sessions will continue via phone and online.

In times of uncertainty, change, and isolation, stress and anxiety can increase. In order to support your own mental health and well-being, and those around you who may be more vulnerable to these impacts, we recommend limiting news and media intake, remembering to take breaks, and remaining connected to others through phone or email. We encourage our youth and our wider community to follow provincial health advice by continuing to spend time outdoors in nature while social distancing, and taking appropriate measures to minimize health risks to yourselves and others, especially the most vulnerable.

Take a Hike Foundation adheres to BC Ministry of Education mandates, and we will keep our community informed as the situation evolves.
