Take a Hike Receives $5,000 Grant from Community Foundation North Okanagan

Take a Hike Youth Mental Health Foundation is honoured to be one of the grant recipients from the Community Foundation North Okanagan Opens in new tab.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, CFNO hosted a community event last week at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre, where 50 grants were awarded to local organizations. In total, $467,000 in funding was shared to support efforts in youth mental health, housing, education, food security, and other vital services.

Take a Hike received $5,000 in support of its Vernon program. This funding helps provide land-based learning experiences that take youth out of the traditional classroom and into natural spaces. For many, it’s the first time they’ve been able to slow down and feel safe enough to reflect on their lives. These experiences are an important part of how they begin to rebuild connection, develop coping strategies, and take meaningful steps forward.

Lenai Moore, Program Manager for the Interior Region, attended the event to share her appreciation and connect with other community changemakers.

We’re deeply grateful to the Community Foundation North Okanagan for believing in young people and for investing in the kind of support that helps them thrive.
