Help Youth Navigate Their Lives
Imagine being a teenager facing uncertainty about school, mental health, or your future. You’re having a hard time concentrating, feel the pressure to fit in socially, excel academically, and get enough sleep.
Anxiety builds, and it all starts to feel like too much… at home and at school.
Now, imagine having a team of caring adults helping you navigate those challenges, guiding you toward personal and academic goals that feel real and achievable.

Take a Hike’s full-time mental health and well-being program empowers vulnerable youth at school where they need it. It helps them create a brighter future for themselves by providing academic and emotional supports, land-based learning opportunities, and a compassionate community.
Youth in our program are learning to navigate not just the wilderness, but also their emotions, their education, and their future. With your support, Take a Hike youth gain the guidance, tools, and confidence to chart their own path toward success.
Your Support Helps Vulnerable Youth Navigate
Their Emotions
Youth have access to a full-time mental health clinician in the Take a Hike program. Through trusting and supportive relationships, youth are encouraged to learn more about themselves, understand their triggers, past trauma, and express their feelings.
Stress and anxiety are managed in healthy ways and from that place, youth are on a path where they can thrive.

The Land
Weekly land-based learning adventures allow youth to physically challenge themselves on long hikes, steep inclines and bumpy waters.
They learn practical outdoor navigation skills like using maps, compasses, and tide charts to guide their outdoor journeys, as well as develop skills like problem-solving, communication, teamwork and confidence to overcome life’s challenges.

Their Futures
Smaller class sizes and trauma-informed care by caring adults provide youth with a strong foundation to learn.
Individualized education plans and support assist youth in setting personal and academic goals, identify and overcome challenges, and chart their own path to success – whatever that looks like for them.
