Other Ways to Support

Gear Donations 

We are currently accepting donations of outdoor gear to enhance the experiences of Take a Hike youth. Your generous contribution of brand new or “excellent condition” outdoor gear is highly valued and plays a vital role in keeping youth comfortable and ready to foster positive relationships with nature and each other.

By donating, you become a crucial part of our mission to provide an enriching and supportive environment for youth. Join us in creating lasting memories and empowering the next generation through the gift of land-based learning.

We are accepting new and excellent condition:

  • Expedition Backpacks (60L+)
  • Hiking boots
  • Rain jackets
  • Stuff Sacks & Compression Sacks
  • Sleeping bags (down or synthetic), 0 degrees or lower
  • Sunhats
  • Sunglasses
  • Hiking poles
  • Tarps
  • 2-3 person tents (preference to light-ultralight, packs less than 20L)
  • Day packs
  • Outerwear (rain jackets, base layers, mid-layers, hiking pants etc.)

Winter Gear:

  • Microspikes
  • Snowshoes
  • Winter boots
  • Winter jackets
  • Fleece pants/tights
  • Wool Socks
  • Waterproof Gloves/Mittens
  • Toques

Water-Based Sports:

  • Dry Bags (5L, 10L, 20L)

We support sending any donations that don’t fit into the above description to these organizations below:

  • Your local public school outdoor education program
  • Local stores that run philanthropy or stewardship projects
  • Your local Mountain Biking Association
  • Local Affinity Spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQISA2+, and women, queer & non-binary folks

Other Ways to Contribute 

Unable to contribute gear? No problem! Explore the option of donating unique “experiences” to our programs. Whether you’re a company or an individual eager to provide opportunities, your support can make a significant impact. Discover ways to enrich our programs and create lasting memories for Take a Hike youth. Your generosity goes beyond physical donations— it becomes an investment in transformative experiences.   • Hive Climbing (2hrs of instruction for a class, or 10 punch pass to be used by students outside of school)
