Spirit of Exploration Trips, funded by Pacific Spirit Foundation

We believe in the power of the outdoors to inspire, heal, and transform lives. Thanks to the generosity of the Pacific Spirit Foundation, we are excited to introduce the Spirit of Exploration Trips, an initiative that will give youth in our programs the opportunity to explore the great outdoors on their spring adventures over the next three years.

The Pacific Spirit Foundation is a proud family foundation established by Guff, Beverley and other members of the Muench family, who have been dedicated supporters of Take a Hike since 2005. Their commitment to our mission goes beyond philanthropy—Beverley Muench, one of the Foundation Directors, even spent years volunteering in our original Vancouver program. For the Muench family, the great outdoors is more than just a place—it’s a sanctuary. As Beverley describes it, the outdoors is “our church,” a space for connection, learning, physical exercise, and a spiritual reset.

Celebrating a Wonderful Partnership

For the next three years, all Spring Trips at Take a Hike will be named Spirit of Exploration Trips, funded by Pacific Spirit Foundation. These trips will offer youth the chance to immerse themselves in nature, develop resilience, build meaningful relationships, and experience personal growth in the outdoors.

To commemorate this partnership, the Pacific Spirit Foundation has collaborated with a Take a Hike youth to create a unique logo for Spirit of Exploration Trips. Created by Justice, a talented youth artist in our Merritt Program, the new design is inspired by elements of the Pacific Spirit Foundation family foundation logo.

It has been printed on custom toques gifted to all Take a Hike youth, and they will be worn with gratitude during their adventures on Spirit of Exploration Trips, and beyond! These toques serve as a tangible reminder of their journey and the Muench family’s generosity, and the new logo is a symbol of the power of community and the transformative experiences that happen when youth are given the chance to explore, reflect, and grow in nature.

A Life-Changing Experience

These spring trips provide a much-needed opportunity for the youth in our program to step away from daily stresses, find solace in nature, and develop life skills that will guide them long after their time at Take a Hike.

Youth form meaningful bonds with peers under the guidance of caring adults. Whether sharing campfire stories, setting up camp together, or supporting one another through challenges, these experiences foster a deep sense of belonging community.

We are endlessly grateful for the Pacific Spirt Foundation’s generosity and outside-the-box approach to philanthropy which will provide hundreds of youths with the life-changing opportunity to learn to and from the land.
